"Lounge Lizards-Hunter/Steadman" -pen and ink 2009
This drawing I did for my Sister-in-law and her Husband for their wedding gift. He is a Hunter S. Thompson fan and she likes my pen and ink drawings, she has always told me that...so I thought this was a perfect drawing to do for them. It is Ralph Steadman's illustration from Hunter's 'Fear and Loathing" book. I think this drawing is hilarious, but I think everything about that book, from the book, to the illustrations, even to the movie....everything - near perfection.

"Art*Bar 3" acrylic on canvas 2009
This is my latest 'Open Canvas Artist' painting done live at the Art Bar in the Riverwest neighborhood. This is a painting where they invite a local artist to come paint live on Sunday nights in the bar. I always enjoy doing these and it has been three years since I have done it...it was nice to get back up there and look forward to the next time. And thank you to those who came down to support me, as always I appreciate it. This painting is 5'x5'

"Birds on a Wire" acrylic on canvas 2009
This painting is very interesting to me. I debated over and over about painting the power lines. I chose not to...I wanted the viewer to see the lines without actually painting them, I think it worked. I am happy with the way the turned out. It is one of the few times where what I see in my head actually materializes on canvas. It is 24" x 18".

"Racing Sausages" acrylic on canvas 2009
This painting is 10" by 16". I did this for our nephew Josh for his 4th birthday. He loves baseball and the Brewers racing sausages so this was the perfect gift for him although I think his mom liked it more.

"Three Fields" acrylic on canvas 2009
This is one painting on one canvas of three different looks of one scene. It is something that I have never done before and sort of like the way it looks. I don't know why I did it, just wanted to try something new and I am very happy with the way it turned out. The size of this canvas is 24" by 28"...each panel is about 22" by 8"

"Prairie Home" acrylic on canvas 2009
This painting was more of an experiment on texture. I would say 80% of the painting was done by pallet knife or my hands. I just used a brush for a bit of the detail in trees and house. It's a little 9" by 10" canvas but there is enough paint on the painting to cover a canvas 5 times that size. I really like this painting because I have never done one like it before.

"Fill 'er Up" acrylic on canvas 2009
This one I wanted to play with the clouds again as in my last painting. I think it is a really interesting look and I may use it again. And another first...I never painted a car or truck before. I based the gas station off an old photo of an gas station that used to be on Route 66. This painting is 20" by 24".

"Big Sky, Small Farm" acrylic on canvas 2009
This painting I wanted to emphasize on texture...physical and brush technique, and prove that mixing textures makes for a very interesting look. Even though each of the four planes are painted with different techniques, it does go together. This painting was a fun to do...it was a bummer to finish it, I was having a really good time painting it. It is 18" x 24".

A simple but appealing painting...I gave this to my mom, I always enjoy checking it out when I go over there.
